MyGym Hazel Grove Community Walk

One thing we’re brilliant at here at MyGym is engaging our members’ community. Whether it’s with a fitness challenge, a get-together or something more active, we’re always full of ideas.

The latest one we’ve embraced is a walking group.

Walking fits with our ethos. It’s active, it’s scalable, and it appeals to a wide range of our member base. It allows us to bring together people who wouldn’t normally meet because they train at different times of the day. It also allows us to enjoy some of the amazing countryside that we have on our doorstep.

In April, we did a Lyme Park loop. We started at the Boar’s Head pub in Higher Poynton, then walked up to the Bow Stones at the edge of Lyme Park. We then strolled along the Gritstone trail towards Pott Shrigley, where we enjoyed a coffee and cake stop at Kickback Coffee.

The final section saw us back into Lyme Park, along the Middlewood Way and then along the canal. In total, the walk was just short of 13km, which is a great way to spend a Saturday! We burned plenty of calories, got outside in the fresh air, enjoyed the best of the local countryside and created new friendships amongst our members.

All in all, a great day out!

Keep your eyes peeled for our next one, which will be a sunset walk on the Summer Solstice…
